There are some nights when we want our jaws to drop and let out a gasp each time a new plate
of food arrives—but there are others when we crave the familiar. Satisfying that urge, specifically
for red- or cream-sauced anything, has been Fort Myers’ Two Meatballs in the Kitchen. Now, there’s
another more intimate outpost from the same family in the Gateway, called The Saucy Meatball.
The café looks just as enticing as it sounds, with a lovely shaded patio, airy interior and large bar.
What Saucy’s offering diners is in the same vein as her older sibling, with Parmesans, calzones and
New York-style pizzas (try the namesake with meatballs, mushrooms and ricotta). But she’s got
something else to make you swoon: unique dinner specials, like the scaloppine pictured here rolled
with provolone, prosciutto and roasted garlic in a garlic-infused cream sauce.
